A Birder's Guide to Christmas & Everything ...

Dear #firstname#

A very merry Christmas from Wildiaries.

As we near the 2014 festive break we hope, like us, you will be enjoying a hard-earned rest. Many of us will no doubt be heading to our favourite parks and camping haunts, to spend time with friends and family.

This month's subjects suit the mood to relax and contemplate the people and places we love the most.

We meet the characters from a new teen-movie, then learn the wisdom of years from an ornithological octogenarian. Two perspectives from either end of a generation converge to tell us about the importance of nature in our lives and the lives of the people around us.

We were delighted to be able to review "A Birder's Guide to Everything" by Curious Films and starring Australian-born Kodi Smit-McPhee and Oscar-nominated Ben Kingsley. It's a powerful coming-of-age movie about a teenage boy struggling to come to terms with life and is set against the backdrop of birding with friends.

If you take part in our short survey you have a chance to win one of 15 downloadable copies of "A Birder's Guide to Everything".

We are also excited to introduce a favourite film of our own featuring the wonderful Peter O'Reilly.

Peter's youth was spent in the bush where he developed his love of birds ... and what better living bauble is there to celebrate Christmas than the brilliantly black and golden Regent Bowerbird.

From the team at Wildiaries, have a great Christmas. We look forward to writing to you again in the New Year.
